T&RS Engineering signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE)

T&RS Engineering has strengthened its commitment to professional development by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE).

The agreement formally aligns T&RS Engineering’s internal development framework with the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC), providing a recognised pathway for engineers to achieve Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

This milestone ensures that the company’s approach to professional growth continues to meet nationally recognised standards, supporting engineers at every stage of their career to gain the recognition and credibility their work deserves.

The MoU represents a significant step in aligning technical competence, development structure and professional recognition within T&RS Engineering; reinforcing the company’s dedication to building a workforce that reflects the highest standards of engineering excellence.

“This agreement with SOE gives our people a clear and supported route to professional registration, embedded within the same evidence-based, depot-driven engineering culture that defines our business. By aligning with the UK-SPEC framework, we’re ensuring that our engineers’ skills and experience are recognised both within our sector and across the wider engineering profession.”  – Richard Poulton, Managing Director of T&RS Engineering

The Society of Operations Engineers represents professionals and students across engineering operations, providing routes to professional registration, learning resources, and guidance on competence and development standards.

Through this MoU, T&RS Engineering reaffirms its ongoing commitment to advancing the professional capability of its team and contributing to the continual elevation of standards across the UK rail engineering industry.
